Pansys

Pansies are a winter hardy low growing annual. They thrive in temperatures 60°F and below in the full sun, lower then 25°F they will start to suffer. Spent flowers should be dead headed to encourage more blooms and prevent mold and rotting. They like a well draining soil that is kept moist but not soggy. The flowers are also edible making a fancy garnish to drinks, salads or sweets, they have a mild minty flavor.
